PLAYING THE STANLEY CUP® GAME EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE NHL® BIG LEAGUE MANAGER:

As the box and rules state, this is an expansion pack and is designed to be played with NHL® Big League Manager. However, if for some reason you don't have your board game handy, here's how you can play the expansion pack by itself.

  1. There are four PDF score sheets on the right corner. Print out any two. You and your opponent can use these to play against each other.
  2. Draw seven Stanley Cup® cards each.
  3. Get a pair of dice (or even a single die).
  4. If you want to follow your progress on the Stanley Cup® Finals board, find something to use as tokens.
  5. If a card is used that says a player is injured for a match, remember which player that is when you count up the player "Power Rankings" at the end of the match. You might want to use the blank Stanley Cup® cards to blank out that player.
  6. Read through the Expansion Pack rules. It will explain how you use the Stanley Cup® cards.
  7. Here's how you play each match: You and your opponent roll a die. That's your score for each period. Remember, you'll be playing Stanley Cup® cards as well.
  8. You roll three times for three periods. Because you're using conventional dice, as opposed to the NHL® Big League Manager match dice, the scores may be a little high.
  9. At the end of those three rolls, count up the power ranking of your six players, not counting any player which is injured or otherwise ineligible for that match. Add in any additions to your power ranking from a Stanley Cup® card. If you're total power ranking is over 44, add the amount over 44 to the final "Plus 44" column. The scores from the three periods plus the "Plus 44" represents your total score.
  10. If the score is tied, you each roll the die once for overtime. You can't play any Stanley Cup® cards. Keep playing overtime until you have a winner.
